Money Minded Financial Literacy Program

The Zonta Club of Makati Legaspi (ZCML) launched its first project for the 2024–2026 Biennium with a Financial Literacy Program in partnership with ANZ last September 8, 2024. The initiative introduced the Money Minded Program to the Sisters of Charity of St. Charles Borromeo, aiming to strengthen financial knowledge and boost confidence, empowering participants to make informed financial decisions.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Pascual Laboratories, through Lyn Ching, for their generous donation of Poten-Cee Forte boxes, which were raffled off during the event.

2025 Financial and Legal Forum in Isabela

The DMW Region 2, in collaboration with the Zonta Club of Isabela, conducted a Financial Literacy Campaign and a Legal Forum on Cybercrimes and VAWC at the Provincial Capitol Amphitheater in Ilagan City, Isabela.

Over 300 students from Isabela State University – Angadanan Campus benefited from a Financial Literacy Campaign aimed at equipping them with essential money management skills.

Experts from Australia New Zealand Bank, Zonta Club of Makati Legaspi, and Zonta Club of Isabela provided valuable insights and practical guidance on achieving financial security for OFWs and their families.

Information Dissemination

On February 2, 2025, Zonta Club of Makati Legaspi’s President was the guest of speaker at 104.9xFM Santiago radio program to discuss about the “Social Invisibility of Elder Abuse in Families: A phenomenon in Philippine Society”

Mental Health & Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness

On September 21, 2024, ZCML, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tiger Mandaluyong, held a Mental Health and Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness event to highlight the connection between mental and physical well-being. Over 200 senior citizens participated.

Women’s Month Celebration

On March 21, 2025, ZCML President Carmie Oyales delivered a talk addressing the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly among women. This talk was part of a joint initiative between the ZCML and the RC of Tiger Mandaluyong.

WEALTH Caravan 2023

Women Empowerment and Literacy Through Health Education (W.E.A.L.T.H.) Caravan: “Sulong Kababaihan: Mga Sakit ay Agapan!”. This initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Municipality of Los Baños, Laguna, Trace College, and the Philippine Society for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (PSCPC).

16 Days of Activism

On November 25, 2024, ZCML, the ZC of Angel John Integrated Academy, and Zonta International District 17 – Area 5 united to launch this year’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.

As part of this advocacy, ZCML introduced a legacy initiative on climate justice and environmental awareness titled Young Climate Heroes: Story Writing Contest, aimed at empowering youth to help build a more sustainable future. Additionally, a virtual session on Financial Literacy was held to equip women and girls with the skills to take control of their financial well-being.

Green Project

ZCML’s Climate Justice Initiative: GREEN PROJECT was realized on February 1, 2025. The club actively involved members and the community in initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.

As part of the project, seeds donated by ZCML were planted, with significant support from major donor, IPP Jeennee Desiderio Garcia.

Fundraising Project

Proceeds from the December 2024 initiative will support the ZCML’s Medical Mission in Isabela, scheduled for February 2025, as well as the Young Heroes Climate Project.

In addition, ZCML hosted a Christmas Party and gift-giving event for the children at Bethany Children’s Home, spreading joy and support during the holiday season.

Relief Good for Typhoon Victims

On July 27, 2024, ZCML donated emergency relief goods to support those affected by Typhoon Carina. The donation was delivered at the SJ Covered Court in Ateneo as part of Tanging Yaman Foundation’s relief operations for the typhoon victims.

MoneyMinded Session

ZCML, in partnership with ANZ Philippines, hosted a MoneyMinded session at Bethany Children’s Home, where they also donated clothes, books, board games, and other essentials.

Food Share Program

In collaboration with Kabisig ng Lahi and the Barangay officials of Malanday, Marikina, ZCML launched a Food Share Program, distributing sacks of rice to 30 beneficiaries. These individuals, who were previously employed as cooks, masseuses, shoemakers, musicians, and laborers, had lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

COVIDiligence

Last July 2020, ZCML supported Bethany Children’s Home during the pandemic by providing face masks and face shields to help protect the children and staff. Additionally, urban farming kits for Bethany’s sustainable vegetable garden were sourced from Agrea Philippines, an NGO that advocates for local farmers.

Amelia Earhart Day

In honor of Amelia Earhart Day, the ZCML held a joint celebration with the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs Foundation Inc., featuring Dr. Gay Jane Perez as the guest speaker. Dr. Perez is one of five lead project scientists behind the Philippine Scientific Earth Observation Microsatellite Program. These satellites provide real-time imagery for disaster risk preparedness and management.

Hope for Naomi

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, ZCML proudly launched the first storybook in the Gawad Panitikang Pangkalusugan series, titled Hope for Naomi. This collection was created to educate children on important health topics. ZCML extends their gratitude to Mu Sigma Phi Sorority, Inc. and InLife Sheroes for their valuable partnership.

Wellness Initiatives & Support for the Elderly

In January 2020, ZCML successfully wrapped up its WISE Caravan (Wellness Initiatives and Support for the Elderly) in partnership with the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority of UP College of Medicine, San Jose LGU (Antique), the Municipal Health Office, and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.

The event featured educational lectures on common health concerns among the elderly. A total of 150 senior participants.
